ARTIST BIOGRAPHY'S
Brendan and David have finally joined together as a unique multi- instrumental folk/trad group, having for years worked as part of bigger touring groups. They have committed to pursuing their own musical futures and have developed a unique act which will grace the stages of any hotel, theatre, arts centre, folk club or corporate event.
BRENDAN MONAGHAN
Uilleann piper, whistle player, guitarist, bouzouki, singer, percussionist and session musician
Brendan is an internationally renowned touring musician and a former member of the folk rock group Heritage and Different Drums. He is an active member of Phil Coulter, Peter Corry and Malachi Cush's groups and was the musical director of Piping Hot, a cross cultural music and dance show.
Brendan has graced the stages of Europe and America and has performed in the Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony and made a very special appearance at the White House in Washington DC by invitation of the then American President Bill Clinton. He has also played with, Justin Heywood, John Prine, Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello, Steve Harley and Nanci Griffith, and he and David Muldrew have worked on many landmark albums and performances. In more recent months Brendan has performed throughout America as the linchpin musician in the very successful musical production "Celtic Thunder".
DAVID MULDREW
Singer-songwriter, guitarist, bouzouki player and session musician with Peter Corry, Malachi Cush, Aoife ni Fearraigh, The Celtic Light Orchestra, Thom Moore, Crookedjack Ireland, Kask, The Upducky Band and Blackthorn.
David has toured internationally and has played in the Middle East and was invited to play for the Dubai Duty Free Desert Classic golf tournament, Singapore Festival, Darwin Festival Australia and various other major festivals in Europe, Scandinavia and the USA. He was involved in the music for the award winning film "The Magdalene Sisters" and worked as associate producer in New York on the groundbreaking CD "Ripples of Hope" which featured some of Ireland and America's major folk artistes. David was also the winner of the Ballyshannon Folk Festival songwriters Award and received the Tommy Makem Armagh Festival of Song Award for bringing new songs into tradition.
For those interested in the world of broadcasting David is a radio producer/presenter of a specialist folk and traditional music programme on Fivefm part of the Northern Media Group radio network.
